“When people look at my pictures I want them to feel the way they do when they want to read a line of a poem twice.”
- Robert Frank
A Little About Me
I could start this off with a very long story about how I’ve loved photography since I was a young child, how I see almost everything as if my eyes were one lens. But instead I’m going to start this off with how my very first camera took the same 10 photos over and over again, thank you, Fisher Price. Or maybe I’ll tell you about how I used to dress my dogs up and take photos of them when I was a kid while all of my friends were doing what one might consider “normal” things, like not dressing their dogs up and taking pictures of them. Such was growing up as an only child and not being allowed to watch tv. This forced me to be creative, to use my imagination rather than always watch someone else’s come into action.
Although I do still take numerous photos of my dogs, they aren’t asked to dress up. Somewhere between yelling “sit! .. stay!” and where I am today, typing this about me that I contemplated writing in third person, I started this business which has enabled me to shoot some of the most incredible events and work with people that I highly admire. Yes, it sounds cliche but I am so blessed to be able to combine some of the main ingredients in my life into more than just a hobby, but a job, and I thank God for that every day.
When people ask me “what kind of photography do you do?” I’m typically stumped. I’m an “all-genre photographer” as far as I can see. I don’t wish to be a “portrait photographer” a “sports photographer” a fashion, concert, candid, or a street photographer, my goal is to experience and shoot every form of photography that i’m passionate about. When you’re passionate about something, creativity will flow rapidly, and my goal is for that to show in the photos that I produce. I enjoy working with people who have a strong vision for their project, and I enjoy creating inspiration for those who need a foundation to work off of. If I could describe my photography in three words they would be: Nostalgic, Carefree, Genuine. When people look at my photos I want them to be able to imagine not only that moment, but the emotion and thought put into creating it.
